There is Something about Sunset that He Likes

A beautiful sunset taken in Central Java, Indonesia.

Papers are waiting for him - journal critiques, desk reviews, annotated bibliographies, research proposals, and data analyses. No dramas.

Loveless

In the bright wake of a daybreak
There is no hope for the loveless
For what is meant to be a remake
When the heart knows its mistake?

In the whimsical stanza of a verse
There is no sense for the loveless
For what is meant to be a reverse
When the heart is under a curse?

In the meaningful words of a friend
There is no lesson for the loveless
For what is meant to be a mend
When the heart can just pretend?

In the sweet melody of a music
There is no rhythm for the loveless
For what is meant to be romantic
When the heart hums monotonic?

In the glorious sunset by the bay
Only there is peace for the loveless
For at the conclusion of passing day
Stops torment of the heart so lonely.

Runny Nose

You came after the cold rain
I never hoped you will remain
But you got me under the nose
We've never been that close.

You blow all my friends away
And peeping rodents in the hay
I shut quick and bang the door
Than sputter something sore.

And you always make me cry
For reason I can only wonder why
I put on my shades with a sigh
Then gaze not at the bright sky.

I want to feel well and break free
I detest the days of your infamy
Why, why won't you run away?
Oh, runny nose, please run away!

Rain Quote

Oh, the pain.
The pain.
It always rains.
In my soul.

Happiness is...

In order to be truly happy, one doesn't need everything in the world. Appreciating simple things around and noticing the positive side of life is what makes life truly happy despite its flaws. This I realize in a typical day of my rigors in school. As a teacher, I find meaning of happiness this way...

Happiness is... the gentle flame that burns
The water in the pot boiling as it turns;

Happiness is... the sprinkling frost on hair
Upon a foggy and chilly air;

Happiness is... the perfect beating
Of national anthem as everyone sing;

Happiness is... the chorus of greeting
That children say in the morning;

Happiness is... helping a kid read a line
And fighting sleep at the same time;

Happiness is... a board work of numbers
But realizing the delight of the learners;

Happiness is... the buzzer when it rings
And the sound of putting away things;

Happiness is... a neat pile of stick brooms
Before cleaners go to their own homes;

Happiness is... the sweet song of flower
That cold zephyr blows through the hill;

Happiness is... a pair of warm knee socks
Knitted with the soft thread of twilight;

And happiness is... simply coming to terms
With life's odds and burns.

What about your own happiness, too?

Stupid Limericks and Foolish Thoughts

Just to shoot breeze of how this week has been...

As part of the tree growing fest tomorrow, we planted some of the trees in the difficult locations of the school today. We enjoyed a couple take of pictures until this fellow teacher posed on a dead bark of a tree in the knoll, and presto!

The pupils essayed a laughter
As their gravitationally challenged teacher
Fell like a burden into the slope,
So, next time I can only hope
One should never dive without water.

On the other side of things, it has always brought brief cardiac arrest everytime I hear accident in my class. Last day, it was noon break when someone reported that one of my pupils was physically hurt. Call it negligence, but no matter how much I set rules, children always break.

Mary had a playmate she didn't heed
That caused the toy to fly out of deed
And Mary's nose dripped with redness
A condition called epistaxis
But in simple word is nosebleed.

Life is a constant change, and such truth of life is one of the important lessons I learned this week. As a part of career movement, there will be a reshuffling of administrators in our division and our own school head is set to roll like a stone to another school.

A strong man set eyes to new spheres
And make inspiration on yesteryears
People behind must be emotional,
But one should be at least critical
And remember not all fluids are tears.

Summer Is Over And So Are We

Things change like leaves of tree
Young swallows learn to be free
Left summer skin I shed off me
Summer is over, and so are we.

Daylight hours seem don't agree
Wind whispers the cold decree
Warmer feelings I used to be
Summer is over, and so are we.

Lost is nature's outside spree
Fading is chant of the laboring bee
In my room a sea of ceiling I see
Summer is over, and so are we.

Heart Attack

Damn young heart of mine
Feeling just right and fine
But beyond its fair demeanor
Are untold tears and more.

As the memoirs of yesterday
Come back tonight vividly
Oh, this heart aches for thee
It's really insane, you see.

Whatever fusion has Cupid
Cast upon this heart so stupid
That til now it remains a slave
Of a love it can never save.

Damn young heart of mine
It knows it's just wasting time
But it doesn't want to stop
Oh, I'd better wish heart attack.

A Prayer of Teacher

Most gracious Heavenly Father
I humbly kneel to You as a teacher
Grateful for the precious breath of life
You bestowed for my work's strife.

Help me always consider in the world
Youth's mind more precious than gold
That I fill them with things not wrong
But with beautiful as a flower or a song.

Give me a patient and understanding mind
And a heart that is firm yet kind
To teach not just how rivers flow
But also how Your path to follow.

I ask Your guidance so divine
As I touch that miracle called mankind
Midst winds of challenge of this noble job
Help the world's morrow in my hand.

Amen.

Seminar and Sleep

I listen to the lecture of gods
But why I hear the midnight?
I see vision of dancing ideas
But why these eyelids dance too?

So, I hold this private pleasure
And seal it with a sweet kiss
Hush, my world, I whisper
As unto sleep I did surrender.

The Rain

Drawing each rain
That drops down the pane
I count it in a song
But why so long?

Tracing each rain
That trails down the pane
I keep a stare
But why I care?

Tracking each rain
That trickles down the pane
I find its final station
But why I forlorn?

November Wind

You were there those solitary times
Hugged me in your most tender arms
Beyond the dimmest light of hope
You were there to help me cope...

And I know you are right here
When the lilies move, fir trees sway
Without a wistful call for love and care
You are here to give an answer...

Just as you merge across the bay
With the red-winged robin's longing echo
In the absence of profound consolation
You were there to lend affection...

Now, your touch feels different
Yet I just love it you are here
Come on, November Wind, dance with me
Your cool cadences before you flee....

Three Disjointed Poems

Nipped Bud
Teeny, weeny beauty,
Would you still see
The world exactly?
Buzzing bees must be busy

Come fair fortnight day
That, if no one had to cut thee!
Sorry, weeny beauty; just in the mood for poem! Ha!

Waterloo
I'm making my way,
Shallow and noisy;
I'm passing by,
Silent and high.
Oh, ocean so blue, wide
On your wave crest I ride!
But should I fall ten feet under,

My hopes and dreams let me gather.

Tireless Thought
Mobile and full of hale
Like an autumn gale
Among leaves you flirt
And blow girl's skirt!
With a pen on my hand
And a tarnished note
Alas, I pin you down,
Tireless thought!
